The poker pro talks about the Epic Poker League
He also slanders the Full Tilt top management
Of all the poker pros, Daniel Negreanu has never been the one to not speak his mind. Every time he had something to say, he didn’t beat around the bush, and always let it out, no matter how harsh his opinions seemed. Along the years, this has become Negreanu’s trademark to some extent, and as soon as there’s something to comment, the guy doesn’t disappoint and he lets it all out. And while many people tend to voice their opinions on anything and everything, Daniel seems to have a pretty popular one among poker players and fans. And he’ll take advantage of his fame, and comment on everything from the recent poker scandals to Australian Poker.
In a recent interview with PokerStars, Negreanu speaks about the current situations in online poker. First off, he says that, even though the second edition of the Epic Poker League drew in less players and fans, he hasn’t been proven right yet (for those of you that don’t know, he was extremely sceptic regarding the EPL’s success, pretty much the only one to be so when the first edition proved quite popular), but he didn’t change his opinion. He still says he doesn’t trust Annie Duke or Jeffrey Pollack, the two names behind the EPL.
When asked about the latest Full Tilt news and rumors, DN didn’t avoid the subject, like some of the other poker pros did when faced with this question. Negreanu tells how the online poker community is, basically, “a bunch of wimps”. While on the internet everybody started to bash the names behind Full Tilt Poker, to their faces nobody said anything, as nobody wants to “rock the boat” and draw any unwanted attention to themselves.
Continuing on the Full Tilt Poker topic, the poker pro reiterates his previous statement, that “Ray Bitar is a complete buffoon”. According to DN, apart from Bitar and the company’s board, nobody had a clue about FTP’s financial issues.
Once again, Negreanu blames the people on top of the company, the ones that made the decisions, like Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson or Ray Bitar. He stands behind everybody else at Full Tilt, whether they’re part of Team Full Tilt or other high-ranking members of Full Tilt Poker.
As with every other Negreanu intervention, this got many people agreeing with him, and a few sticking with the opposition. But you have to admit, the guy speaks some truths.
