After five days, the event is almost over
Many famous names have already been eliminated
Major poker tournaments used to be centered around Las Vegas. The largest events in the world usually took place there, with the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour tournaments being the two most famous events in the world – not only did they attract the largest crowds, but they also had some of the largest prizes out there. And, after all, that’s what the whole industry revolves around, as all poker sites know so well.
But recently, poker tournaments have made it across the ocean to Europe. Sure, poker tournaments were available in Europe for years now, but it’s only recently that they have become as popular as they are now. Right now, the European Poker Tour is well under way, and after 5 days of intense poker gaming it has reached the final table.
So far, the 2011 San Remo EPT has had many famous poker pros reach the final stages, but their numbers are getting smaller and smaller with each passing day.
The 8 player final table now consists of:
- Daniel Neilson, with 6.7 million chips. He’s an Australian poker pro with just $700,000 in career earnings, most of which were won in homeland Australia.
- Dimitar Danchev, with 4.43 million chips. Quite a long way from the chip leader, and lacks live poker experience. Danchev usually plays online at mid stakes under the handle “KuuL”.
- Jan Bendik, with 3.98 million chips. Has won close to $1 million in his career, and has managed to reach the EPT final table once more.
- Andrey Pateychuk, with 3.105 million chips. This Russian poker pro has finished 15th in this year’s WSOP Main Event. He plays online under the handles “aangierr” and “ThePateychuk”.
- Barny Boatman, with 2.49 million chips. The Brit has won over $1,700,000 in his live poker career , and he’s a regular on the popular Late Night Poker show.
- Yorane Kerignard, with 2.145 million chips. With live poker career winnings adding up to just $300,000, lack of experience raises a question mark.
- Rocco Palumbo, with 1.16 million chips. Just $90,000 won in his live poker career, most of which were won in Italy.
- Kevin MacPhee, the only American on the list, with $1.115 million chips. He has won over $1.8 million over his career, and has won the German EPT in 2010.
