Andy Frankenberger wins the title and $100k
This was the tournament’s fourth edition
Over the past months, there hasn’t been a period of more than a week without a major poker tournament being organized in one part of the world or another. The last years have seen an incredible growth in poker tournaments, and online poker has come to play a much larger role in these tournaments than the previous years. You can now gain entry to just about any major poker tournament without having to pay the actual buy-in, if you win an online satellite tournament, and there is an entire list of poker sites where you can win the entries just by playing in an online satellite tournament!
And not only that, but the largest online poker sites in the world have started to organize their very own tournaments. So, in just about every way possible, we can say that the online poker world and the professional poker tournaments have been intertwined more than ever before. The PartyPoker Premiere League, an event that has just ended, is the perfect example of a great event hosted by a great online poker room.
The Premier League was first held back in 2007, and then it was the Poker Brat, Phil Hellmuth, that took home the crown. Now at its fourth edition, the Party Poker Premier League was dominated by Andy Frankenberger, who went home with the grand prize of $100,000. Frankenberger now joined a select group of players that can brag about winning the Premier League. Among them, Andy Black, JC Tran, Juha Helpi and David Benyamine.
And Frankenberger wasn’t the only one who won something at this year’s Premier League. He might be the one that won the highest amount, but he’s not the only one who came out a winner in the end. Andrew Feldman ranked 2nd and went home with $65,000, after being eliminated by Frankenberger at the end of a two hour battle. The final hand had Frankenberger with a KT and Feldman with KQ going up against each other. After the board showed a J-8-9-A-Q, Frankenberger made his straight which shot him straight into poker history.
Other notable participants at the Premier League final were Max Pescatori, Sorel Mizzi, Matt Giannetti and James Dempsey.
All in all, a congratulations is in order for Andy Frankenberger, the newest winner at the Party Poker Premier League.
