Jake Cody is the new member of the PKR Team
He is one of the youngest players to achieve the Triple Crown
Earlier this week, one of the largest online poker rooms in the world, the famous 3D poker site PKR, announced that they will unveil the name of their newest sponsored online poker pro to join their team. After leading us on and starting several discussions in the online poker communities throughout the internet, PKR have finally announced the name of their newest poker pro, and it’s… Jake Cody.
Cody is a British professional poker player that first came under the spotlight last year, in 2010, when he managed to impress everybody with his live poker skills. He debuted in January of 2010 with a win at Deauville, in the European Poker Tour, where he rounded his bankroll by close to €1 million. Later on, in August, he won an additional 300 GBP after he beat everybody in the London stage of the World Poker Tour. Almost a year later, in June 2011, he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet after winning a NLH event in this season’s WSOP. By doing so, Cody became one of the youngest players ever to complete a triple crown.
But even though he’s more than proven his worth in live poker tournaments, Jake Cody has started his career playing online poker. He deposited just $10 to start with in an online poker room, and, according to Cody himself, he hasn’t made an additional deposit ever since.
Both PKR officials and Jake Cody have made official statements expressing their excitement with the new deal, and the poker pro even said that he had turned down offers from other online poker sites before speaking with PKR, and he only accepted it because the site, as he says, is very impressive. PKR was, undoubtedly, impressed with what the poker pro had to bring to the table.
Jake Cody will now join the ranks of Wladimir Geshkenbein, aka “Beyne”, Scott Shelley, aka “PKR_Scott”, Sascha Walter, aka “locodice”, James “James666″ Sudworth, Marc Bariller, aka “Waswini” and Sofia “wellbet” Lovgren, as they are a part of the PKR sponsored pros team. The first events where Cody will take part as an official part of the PKR team will be held this very weekend, when he will be the host of two tournaments, and will also play a heads up match against a PKR player.
